Mud Puddles

This afternoon we headed outside to take a quick walk to the mailbox.  It had rained for four days so we were happy to see a little sunshine.  The boys wandered around the yard and darted over to Mema's.  They enjoyed just exploring, picking up sticks and throwing rocks into mud puddles.  Sam hit anything and everything within reach with his new sword from G-Ma.  I threatened to throw it in the burn barrel more than a few times when he "accidentally" got a little too close to his brother's head.  They were both just so happy to be outside.

Papa was out checking his mail too (in his silk pajamas) and Jack ran as fast as he could over to the fence when he saw him yelling "Papa! Papa!"  He couldn't figure out why there was a fence separating him from his Papa.
On our walk back up the path, I tried to distract the boys from seeing the huge mud puddles that had formed between a few of our trees.  No such luck.  They both ran over as fast as they could to the edge of the puddle.  Initially they were a little timid about putting their feet in, and took just a few, careful steps.

Can you see the happiness?  I didn't say a word.  I sat right down in the driveway and watched my boys be boys.  They were soon running, dancing and jumping through the puddles.

They had the best time.  And I sat and watched.  I laughed and enjoyed myself as much as they did.  Another reminder to me that it's the little things that make them the happiest...like throwing rocks, picking up sticks and running through mud puddles.  They were soaked by the time I made them come inside.  I stripped their clothes off on the porch and put them straight in the tub.  I had to promise Sam we could do it again tomorrow.  I sure hope the water is still there or I will be in serious trouble.

Those are the best pictures ever. So wonderful and so typical of boys. I would like to get copies of those pictures. Let me know if it is possible.
Love you
