Camping Out

Yesterday morning the boys decided to have a camp out. They gave Jody a tent for father's day and have been anxiously waiting for cooler weather to test it out. They picked out a perfect spot at the back of the pasture and had their site ready before lunch. They packed sleeping bags and snacks in the afternoon and headed out a little before dark. I was secretly looking forward to a little quite time with my littlest man. He played in the tub, got his pjs on and practiced drinking from a cup. He loves real milk and wants desperately to use a cup. So we practiced awhile until we got a call requesting another quilt at the camp site.
Will and I drove through a maze of sleeping cows and found the big boys and their Daddy hanging out by the camp fire roasting hot dogs.
Sam was eager to show me the tent and their where there sleeping bags were.
Both boys were thrilled over the fire and loved showing it off. They also repeatedly told me to "be careful" and not to "get too close." I'm sure they had been told the same thing by their Daddy.

The ate roasted hot dogs and were so excited to be outside with their Daddy enjoying their first camping trip.
I hugged them both good night and Will and I started to leave for home. Jack announced that he wanted to go to "his house" and cried to leave with me. He hopped in the van and giggled on the way back as we had to pass back through the maze of cattle. He later told me he had to come home so a coyote wouldn't eat him. Less than thirty minutes later the remaining two were back home. Jody could tell that Sam wanted to leave and decided it would be better to head to the house then instead of taking a chance of him begging to leave in the middle of the night. Their first camping trip was memorable and so much fun for them. Even if it was only two hours long.

I thought the campsite was scarey too. I would not have lasted 2 hours. Did they even get around to eating the giant marshmellows?
Such wonderful little campers
I love you
