Happy Crappy

Finally.  Tonight it happened.  Sam, at the ripe old age of 3.25 years, decided to use the potty for more than just pee pee.  After months and months of begging, encouraging and maybe a little threatening, we've made a breakthrough.  He  announced he needed to stinky before bath time and told me he was going to run to the playroom and "go" and he'd be right back.  His bean bag in the play room is his preferred spot to handle his business.  I asked him why he didn't try the potty instead and to my surprise he said "Okay," and proceeded to hop on the toilet.  Fifteen seconds later, there "it" was.

I am fairly certain I damaged Sam's hearing because I let out the loudest scream and the dancing, high fives, and hugs began.  Soon Sam, Jack and I were all yelling and clapping.  Seriously, I don't remember ever being so excited.  Sad, I know, but it's true.  I felt like I'd won the lottery (and with the price of pull ups, maybe I kind of did!)  I did a few cheer leading moves that were quite impressive if I do say so myself. I told Jody that I was so thrilled and I couldn't contain my excitement.  I warned him of what my slightly over the top reaction means for our future.  I mean seriously what if the kid goes to medical school, I'll need to be medicated.  I, of course, took pictures and video, but I did refrain from taking pictures of "it" even though Sam said I should.  Sam immediately reminded me that we would now be going to the zoo and insisted that we go tonight.  We promised a trip soon which satisfied him for the moment.

We took a quick bath and had a long list of people to call.  He was so proud and excited to call everyone. By the third call he told he did two "stinkies...one small one and one big like a snake."  Just a small stretch of the truth.  By the fourth call his reward had increased to "a trip to the zoo, a trip to build-a-bear and a trip to the jungle."  Yes, he was very, very proud of himself and certainly thought he deserved it.  So we have an upcoming zoo trip and bear building session in our near future.  Sam's thrilled and I'm, well, a little overjoyed.  Who knew crap could be so exciting?

Success!
Making sure it doesn't go anywhere while waiting for Daddy to come see...
I asked Sam," Do you know how happy I am?  "Yes," he said. "This happy."  You have no idea, buddy.
