My House.

I always wanted a big two-story house, maybe even with a basement.  But definitely two stories. I envisioned a beautiful staircase in the entrance of the house that led up to bedrooms, a bonus room and maybe even a playroom.  But such is life. We live in a ranch and with two small boys I am thankful for that.  Only one step in this house, from the kitchen to the den. After watching the constant battles at Ally's to keep the babies from opening the gate and climbing the steps, I am glad not to fight that battle. No need for a baby gate. No worries about Sam tumbling down the steps because he refuses to hold onto the rail.  Yes, no stair battles here.  No beautiful, spiral staircase and no worries.  No steps isn't the only benefit either.   All our bedrooms are within a few feet of one another.  No need for a baby monitor here.  And no long walk to the baby's room in the middle of the night.  Just a few short feet.  My house even allows me to multi-task.  I have a clear shot of the boys' bathroom from my kitchen sink.  So I can load and unload the dishwasher and clean the counters all while watching them play in the tub. Yes, a one story house has it's benefits.  So while I may never have that beautiful staircase with a separate playroom, I am thankful for the home I have.  It's perfect for me.

And how thankful you should be!!! In fact, if I had a choice, I wouldn't have stairs either. Laundry, Naps, cleaning up, picking up their rooms, bath time, crying at night... all up and down stairs! Pretty staircases= lots of work!
