We had a fun day today. Our play dates usually consists of just the fab five hanging out, but today their sweet cousin Riley came to play. Sam was super shy when Riley first got to our house and would lean over my shoulder and whisper in my ear things he wanted me to tell Riley. I kept encouraging him to just go over and talk to him. After a few minutes I ran inside to change Jack's diaper and when I came out Sam met me at the door, overly excited and happy to tell me, "Hey Mama, I almost talked to Riley." So sweet, my little shy one. We set up the water slide, but Cannon and Sam were the only ones really interested in sliding. The others splashed around in the water for a little while, but soon they were all tired of the slide.
Sam and Cannon had lots of fun bouncing high and then sliding down at full speed. They would slide so fast, they nearly spilled over the sides.
Cannon decided he would be a stop sign and stood at the bottom of the slide, standing at attention, arms up, saying, "Hey Sam. Stop Sam. Stop Sam. I'm the stop sign. I'm the stop sign." They play so well together.Riley's little brother, Caleb, came too. He is such a mellow, sweet little baby. And so tiny...he is smaller than Jack was when he was born. There really is nothing like a newborn baby.
The kids must have been starving because they didn't make a sound while they ate. They were too busy chowing down on spaghetti and apple juice. Notice Jack, sitting to the right of Cade. Should a 19 month old be able to open his mouth that big?
Riley is the sweetest, most well mannered little boy. I wish we could play with him more. He only lives 30 minutes away and we go months without seeing each other. We have to have more days like today.
After Riley left, Allyson had to take Landry for her 18 month well check. Cade and Cannon stayed at our house and they soon were digging through the costume bucket. Sam was, of course, a bear. Cannon chose to be a lion, his favorite animal. Cade wanted to be a lion too and managed to put on the baby lion costume that is way too small for Jack. It didn't cover much past his belly button and I thought he looked more like a meerkat than a lion.
My two boys had a wonderful today. I love watching them run through our yard and play with friends. We are so blessed.
