Today was a washout. It rained nearly all day. And finally around 4:30, sunshine broke through the clouds and outside we went. We headed over to see Mema and Papa and Sam was thrilled to find a "river" in the ditch. So of course he insisted on jumping in it. And of course, I didn't mind. Off came the clothes and in the "river" he went.
Jack discovered a dead earth worm on the pavement and begin screaming "Big Snake. Big Snake." He inspected that "huge snake" for a long time. And then he got really brave and picked it up. I was shocked. He's usually scared of slimy creatures, but not today. He walked around holding that little worm and exclaiming, "Big Snake!" He even had the nerve to throw that nasty thing on me several times until Mama made the "big snake" disappear.
With the "snake" gone, off my monkeys went to hang on and climb the gate leading into the pasture. Sam climbed all the way to the top bar which made me very, very nervous. And Jack, well he tried to make it to the top, but settled with hanging out at the bottom.
Sam spotted a flower and certainly had to pick it for me. "Look Mommy. Here's a flower for you." Nearly everyday he blesses me with flowers and it never ever gets old. I hope he knows how happy that little dandelion makes me.
I tucked my gift behind my ear and soon Jack was in my face trying his best to remove it. He insisted on wearing it too. And then Sam stole it from him and tucked it safely behind his ear before returning it to me.After getting ridiculously dirty, we headed inside for an early bath. I'm afraid that all three of us may have gotten into poison. Sam has what appears to be a patch on the corner of his mouth and Jack has a large patch on his leg. And I have a little patch above my lip...lovely.
So we're all clean and have each had a dose of Benadryl and lathered up with anti-itch cream. And I'm sure hoping it doesn't spread...
