Sweetness

Last night before bed, I noticed one of the pictures on my nightstand was not upright.  Upon closer inspection, I saw that the glass was broken, shattered into many pieces.  These pieces had been picked up and placed neatly on top of the exposed picture. A few tiny flecks of glass were on the floor, but basically the mess had been cleaned up.  This immediately knocked Jack out of the equation.  There is no way he could, or would, clean up a mess like this without 1) making a bigger mess or 2) requiring stitches.  I knew Jody would have cleaned it up completely, so we all know who that left...my Sam.

I called Sam into my bedroom and asked him if he knew what happened to the picture.  Here's how our conversation went...

"Sam, what happened to this picture by Mommy's bed?"

"Mommy, I was trying to get the phone for you and I knocked it over."

Long pause...

He continued,"I tried real hard to clean it up and the glass was trying to cut my hand, but I was so, so careful, Mommy.  I cleaned it all up.  I'm sorry, Mommy.  Are you mad at me?"

He glared up at me with those big, dark eyes and I was speechless.  Maybe because he had just carried on a real conversation with me (which is still hard for me to believe), maybe because I was amazed by the goodness of this little boy.  He is has the purest, sweetest heart and I marvel at him.  The thought of Jody or me being angry at him devastates him and he tries so hard to never make it happen.  He genuinely wants to please us...and please us he does.  He is exceptional and wonderful and I am so proud to be his Mom.  I pray he never loses his sweet spirit or his desire to please others by doing what is right.  I am so blessed...oh, how I love this little boy.

He nevers wants you to be mad. Are you mad G-Ma when I threw the rock and hit your toe?.. No Sam I could never be mad with you. G-Ma will you be mad if I hit you with my sword? No Sam but it will hurt. G-Ma, do the birds stop singing when I leave because they are sad. Yes Sam the birds stop singing when you leave. I think they fly home with you and sing at your house. They just love you Sam. I love them G-MA. I know Sam..That's why they sing.
Love you always
G-MA
