Today Jody surprised both the boys with a trip to pick out a baby lamb. Jody and I wanted the boys to have a lamb for Easter, and I was thrilled that Jody found some that were ready to sell. We told Sam this morning that he was going to a farm where there were lots of baby sheep, and maybe, Daddy would get him one. I asked him what he would name "him," since Jody was pretty set in getting a boy. "Baby Landry," Sam said. I told him that was a beautiful name but if he got a lamb it would be a boy and he would need to choose a boy name. "No, I want to name him Landry," he insisted. I didn't argue with him and thought I would come up with some boy names while he was gone and we would choose an appropriate name when he got home. Well, guess what? Jody decided to buy a girl which meant I had little room for negotiating a name change. And the more I think about it, it's quite sweet that Sam would want to name his baby girl lamb after his baby girl cousin. So I proudly introduce Landry, our new little lamb...
Sam was over the moon about this new addition to the farm...a little lamb with a white face just like the one in his favorite movie. Poppa held her while Sam rubbed her and talked to her. She is very wild and will take a few days to warm up to us. The boys and I will be making daily trips to the barn to befriend her with carrot sticks. While Sam tended to Landry, Jack played on Poppa's tractor. He loves tractors as much as his big brother and can even say, rather clearly "Tractor!"
And because playing on one tractor just isn't enough, Jack moved on to one of his Daddy's tractors next. I think he could spend hours in the driver's seat, jerking the steering wheel and making motor noises. And talk about mad, he goes from sweetness to pure rage when you pry him off of it.
Another good day. My boys are so blessed to be raised on this farm enjoying the same animals their Daddy did as a boy. Little Landry will soon be running with the five big sheep and soon we hope to add a boy to the mix so Sam and Jack can have lots of little lambs running around. And in keeping with tradition, I have a strong feeling the next two may be named Cade and Cannon if Sam has anything to do with it.

So sweet. On Landry's behalf.. I know she must be so honored to have something named after her, especially Sam's lamb. Now, if he ever names a pig Ally, we are going to have problems. We love you Sam.
