Monday

Today the boys and I got up and ate cinnamon toast like we do every morning.  We go through stages around here...cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, cereal, toast.  Lately we have been on a cinnamon toast kick.  Jack especially loves it.  As soon as we make our way up the hall and into the kitchen in the mornings he walks over to the oven, slaps it with his hand and runs to his chair waiting to be lifted up and fed.  And he means it...you better be slapping butter on the bread immediately or he will let you have it...fuss, fuss, fuss.

After our toast, we ventured outside to examine the light dusting of snow we received last night.  The boys walked around a bit and weren't very impressed with the wet mess.  Sam smiled, threw a few snowballs and quickly lost interest.

So we headed over to Mema's to check in with them and were lucky to be fed one of her delicious egg sandwiches for lunch.  You can't really understand how good an egg sandwich can really be until you have one of hers.  I'm not sure what she does, but they are amazing...trust me.  Bec and Chris came by to see the boys and before they left Andy, Amanda and baby Lila came over.  The boys are so in love with their cousin, Lila. They have only seen her a few times but they can't get enough of her.  The run to the nearest chair, sit up very straight and wait for me to lay her in the lap.  So we take turns switching her from Sam's little lap to Jack's.  It is very encouraging to see them so receptive to a baby.  It gives me hope for # 3...I just hope they aren't fooling me with all that baby love.

With all our company, both boys skipped naps so they were done by supper time tonight.  Baths renewed their energy and they ran miles chasing each other around the furniture in the den.  Jack came to me at 7:30 saying "ba ba" so I fixed his bottle and he was sleeping peacefully before he finished drinking it.  Sam snuggled up beside his buddy, Brad, to enjoy a few m&ms.
Within five minutes, Jody hopped up to snap this picture...he was out like a light.
And then we realized he fell asleep before he chewed up the last m&m.  We woke him up, forced him to drink some milk and made sure his mouth was empty this time before putting him to bed.
Just another perfect Monday at our house.  From start to finish.  Perfect.

On a side note, my Mom called tonight to respond to yesterday's post and my request for advice.  She reminded me that as a child, girl or not, I enjoyed talking about these same things at the most inappropriate time.  Apparently I shared a detailed description of my Dad's anatomy for the family (after walking in on him in the tub) at Sunday lunch at my grandmother's house.  According to my Mom and Dad, this is what you call payback.

It was a perfect Monday. I only wished for more snow so that school would have been closed and I could have been there with you guys. What a wonderful day for two sweet boys and their Mom.

Love
