Birth Order...Explained

First Born:
A mother's first true love, often stubborn, smart, particular, creatures of habit, has the tendency to think the sun rises because they wake up, "high maintenance", usually well-behaved.

Second Born:
Proof that a mom's heart can expand and love equally, sneaky, loud, easy going, fun, wild, can usually be found doing something they shouldn't be.

A first born is happy to find out you are making cupcakes and rushes over to find a seat at the table( the second born is right behind them equally thrilled) only to be disgusted that you've used chocolate icing.  Unacceptable...what was I thinking? Only vanilla icing would do on this particular day.  So I throw my hands up, fussing about just being happy with what I fixed all the while scrambling thru the pantry hoping and praying for some white icing (No comments please...we are fully aware that we created this monster).  And I find it.  And I redo the cupcakes...and even add sprinkles. I expect a thank you or two but nope, nothing.  One first born accepts the new cupcake with a little sigh as if to say, "Finally...you got it right" while the other has become so frustrated with his mama he gives up and returns to the play area.

All the while those two second borns have not made a peep.  I look over to find them content as can be, happily and quietly eating those chocolate cupcakes.  Yes, they are just happy to have a treat.

"High maintenance" vs. "just happy to be alive".  Think Jennifer Lopez vs. Jennifer Garner.  I may be a little biased....I am that second child who was just thrilled to get a cupcake, vanilla or chocolate, every now and then.
